Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho went shopping for a new wing-back on deadline day, it has been revealed.

While United were being linked with AS Monaco fullback Fabinho, in Portugal they were also active.

O Jogo says United were in talks with Benfica for Alejandro Grimaldo right to the final minutes of the summer window on Wednesday.

However, with the 21 year-old tied until 2021, Benfica were under no pressure to sell.

Grimaldo is a former Barcelona junior.
