Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has three back-up options if they cannot sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in January.
The London Evening Standard reports United have already had two bids for Koulibaly rejected and are considering a third, though the report states that Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar and AC Milan's Alessio Romagnoli remain in Mourinho's thoughts.
Skriniar, a 23-year-old Slovakia international, moved to the San Siro from Sampdoria in the summer of 2017 and has featured in 23 of Inter's games this season.
Romagnoli, also 23, has been on AC Mlian's books since 2015 and has scored twice in 16 appearances this season.
