Liverpool had a deal in place for Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao last summer, it has been revealed.RMC says Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group agreed a £12m season-long loan deal with AS Monaco for the 28-year-old, only to be foiled by their rivals.
Falcao has come under pressure at Old Trafford in recent weeks, with speculation mounting over his future.
Liverpool were believed to be interested in the Monaco man after selling £75m Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
United are yet to decide whether to stump up the £43m necessary to make his move permanent.
