Chelsea have been in talks with Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain for the past 40 days.
Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla says Chelsea intermediary Fali Ramadani and Higuain's brother, Nicola, first held talks last month about the Argentine moving to London.
With Maurizio Sarri's appointment now confirmed, Chelsea are ready to close an agreement for Higuain.
A meeting is scheduled this week between the two clubs, with Chelsea expecting to pay £53-57m. AC Milan are also keen, but Chelsea are unconcerned.
Higuain is nervous about moving to Milan given their ownership issues.
