Tottenham saw off late interest from Arsenal to sign Lyon striker Clinton Njie yesterday.

The 22-year-old Cameroonian put pen to paper on a five-year deal at White Hart Lane, costing Spurs a reported £12million.

OL president Jean-Michel Aulas said: "Clinton Njie's departure is not complete. We have received an offer from another big English club which is complicating things."

And according to L'Equipe, the mystery club in question was Arsenal, who hoped to scupper their north London rivals' deal.
