Chelsea hope to make a breakthrough in negotiations for Roma striker Edin Dzeko today.

Delays yesterday were blamed on Dzeko's agent Irfan Redzepagic being held up from entering London. Redzepagic was forced to wait while his visa was approved.

Talks continued over the phone, but matters will intensify once Redzepagic can speak with Chelsea officials face-to-face.

Personal terms have been settled, though the length of contract is yet to be agreed. Chelsea have offered Dzeko a deal worth €8m-a-year, reports TMW, but are reluctant to meet his three-year demands.

Dzeko played and scored for Roma last night in their draw with Sampdoria.
