Recently retired LA Galaxy forward Clint Mathis says he regrets nothing from his career.
The 33-year old pulled the pin on a profession which saw him play at the top level for over a decade, winning a MLS Cup in his second-last season as well as playing and scoring in a World Cup for the USA, and he says he feels happy in his decision.
Mathis was honoured at the weekend's match with New York Red Bull and when asked if he regretted anything, his answer was simple.
"Nothing," he told the Star-Ledger. "I know I've gotten criticism. I've had an up and down career, but I've always lived my life that everything happens for a reason. With all the trouble and all the fun that I've had, I've still had a good career. There's a lot of people that would like the same.
"You can always say woulda-coulda, but I live my life and I enjoy it. That kept me going for a long time as well. It kept added pressure off of me when I knew I could go out and relax or do anything. I wouldn't change anything."
