TO THE RESCUE! Real Madrid star Ronaldo helps fan avoid US jail

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to help young fan Ronald Gjorka escape deportation from the US. Gjorka was facing jail and deportation to Albania after he was arrested for invading the pitch during the preseason game between Real and Chelsea.

The fan, who hugged Ronaldo while on the ground, was charged with intruding on private property (trespassing) and public disorder.

Ronaldo wrote to the Florida prosecuting attorney asking for leniency and the charges have since been dropped.

Gjorka's attorney told ABC: "We are happy to announce the prosecutor today dropped the charges against our client in open court.

"In particular, we thank Cristiano Ronaldo for all his assistance and consideration in this important matter involving a young college student with an extremely bright future."

Gjorka smiled: "My dream now is just to see him again to say thanks."
