Rennie says Vancouver Whitecaps move for Zurich's Chiumiento unlikely

Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie has played down the likelihood of a return for Davide Chiumiento.

The Swiss winger has been linked with a Whitecaps return after he was seen having lunch with Rennie last week but the Vancouver coach insists there is nothing in it as he is currently contracted to FC Zurich.

"It would be unlikely because he's signed for FC Zurich," he said.

"That's just speculation that's out there but we'd always like having Davide here so the door would always be open. It would be a bit of a long shot.

"I know him pretty well and had a good relationship with him. He was around and we had a chance to grab lunch. It was more just talking about family and that kind of stuff."

Chiumiento joined the Whitecaps from Lucerne in 2010 when they were competing in the USSF Pro Division and played for the club during the 2011 and 2012 MLS seasons before moving to Zurich in July this year.
