Everton's Leon Osman only suffered bruising as a result of John Terry's challenge during Monday night's clash between the Toffees and Chelsea. The England international's clumsy tackle saw the Chelsea skipper dismissed.
Osman was on crutches at Everton's Finch Farm training complex but could now be fit to make the Boxing Day trip to Middlesbrough.
"Ossie was in a lot of pain," Everton boss David Moyes confirmed.
"For him to go on and play through that after the tackle was terrific. He showed a great deal of courage.
"Maybe it was one of these challenges that when you take your boot off, you think to yourself 'gee whiz'.
"The longer his boot was on, he could continue, but in the second half he told us he could hardly feel his foot at all."
