Phil Dowd has been installed as the referee for this season's FA Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 49-year old is the man to oversee the Wembley Stadium fixture on Saturday, May 5 at 5:15pm GMT, marking his first appearance in the decider of the Football Association's famous competition.
Dowd, who refereed the Community Shield and Carling Cup matches this season, was honoured to be given the job.
"I would never have thought in my wildest dreams that when I first started refereeing that one day I'd be refereeing the FA Cup final. Watching the final as a boy was something I always loved to do.""I was honoured and privileged when I found out. You obviously hope as a referee that you might one day be considered for the FA Cup final, so it will certainly be the highlight of my career so far," he said.
