Redknapp won't buy if QPR look doomed in January

QPR boss Harry Redknapp admits he wouldn't risk the club's finances if they looked doomed in January.

If they do not make headway this month, in games with Wigan, Fulham, Newcastle, West Brom and Liverpool, Redknapp will advise the club owners to keep their chequebook closed in January.

"I wouldn't spend any money in the transfer window if we're still in this much danger of being relegated," said Redknapp.

"You can't keep upping the wage bill. 'If we can be within touching distance of the clubs above us in January, then we can have a go at getting in one or two; we're short of a front player and a centre-half, at least.

"Let's hope we're in a position to go after some players."
