Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he came close to moving to White Hart Lane three years ago.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy declared the appointment of Redknapp his best ever football decision last week.
Redknapp revealed that Levy was trying to lure him to the Lane when Martin Jol was still in charge.
Dutchman Jol was in the hot seat from the summer of 2004 till being sacked and replaced by Juande Ramos in October 2007.
"Daniel (Levy) wanted me to come three years ago when Martin Jol was here. But Martin was doing OK and I was happy at Portsmouth," he told the London Evening Standard.
