Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp fears Steven Gerrard is not enjoying his football.

Redknapp also believes Gerrard is suffering from the tinkering of manager Brendan Rodgers.

He told talkSPORT: "I think we're really complicating the Steven Gerrard scenario at the moment.

"Look at Yaya Toure last year. We didn't pigeon hole him as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder, he just attacked and then defended when they [Manchester City] didn't have the ball.

"His [Gerrard's] head is minced. He's not quite sure where he's playing - we just have to let him play because he looks like he's not enjoying his football at the moment. He looks like he's suffering and playing within himself.

"I don't subscribe to the theory that he's gone - he just has to go and enjoy his football again."
