Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he was prepared to sell Luka Modric to Chelsea last month.
Spurs rejected a number of bids from Chelsea over the summer - the largest being £40million - much to the annoyance of Modric who was desperate to join the Stamford Bridge club.
And Redknapp said: "I've always been brought up with the belief that if someone didn't want to play for your club then you move them on and bring someone in who does.
"And I was of that opinion in the end. If Luka doesn't want to be here then take the £40million and move on."
