Soccer Prince gives Chinese footballers the opportunity to compete for a place in the Everton Academy. Over a three-month period last year, the best young players in China were put through their paces at specially designated training camps in front of TV cameras - with a watching audience of 60 million people.

Trade & Investment Minister Lord Digby Jones praised Everton's involvement in Soccer Prince.

He said: "I am grateful to Everton Football Club for providing an opportunity to these youngsters to develop as footballers and also learn the English language.

"I believe it is the responsibility for all for all of us, whether it is Government, business, trade body or football club to play whatever part we can in spreading 'Brand Britain' around the world."
