Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is in talks about a new contract.

La Real have made Merino contract extension a priority.

Mundo Deportivo says agent Margarita Garay has met with La Real officials in an attempt to step up negotiations.

If an agreement can be found, Merino will become the club's highest paid player.

The midfielder said last month: “There is still a lot of time, we are all very calm, there is no rush, we will adjust it. Year after year the same thing has been repeated and you see that I am still here."
