Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil was proud of his players in defeat at home to Europa League opponents Manchester United.

The result saw La Real finish group winners on goal difference.

Imanol later said: "You can't even imagine [what this feels like like], I'm so proud, so happy, the fans were on top, a fantastic game from the team, we have one of the best teams in Europe against us in Manchester United and in the end we didn't manage to do enough to win nor to get the draw but we get the minimum result needed and I'm very happy because we have played a great match. I'm so proud of both the players and the fans.

"I would have preferred that we didn't let in a goal, but we have done everything that we planned. As I said I am very happy and I think we also have our chances to score as well, they win thanks to a fantastic goal but in the end we do the minimum that we need and I'm very proud of this team.

"It's hard to put into words, as a player I came through the academy and as a coach as well, it's the club of my life and to do this with this club, these fans and these players it's indescribable."
