Real Mallorca coach Aguirre relieved overcoming Tenerife in Copa: I was ready for penalties

Real Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre was left delighted with their 1-0 Copa del Rey win at Tenerife.

Cyle Larin proved the matchwinner and sent Mallorca into the quarterfinals.

Aguirre later said: "It was a very close match, in which we improved in the second half. It was a dramatic ending that was for anyone, I was already thinking about penalties. Today the difference in category was not seen.

"At times they were superior. They matched us in the tactical scheme and we were not comfortable. When we modified with two points and a line of four, these changes worked for us. The goal culminated an effort by both teams that, unfortunately for them, someone had to win.

"That's football.

"I'm happy for the boys' effort, we defeated a great rival."
