Real Mallorca coach Aguirre angered by reporter questions: Smells bad to me

Real Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre was left angry by reporters after their 1-1 draw with Cadiz yesterday.

Aguirre took issue with questions about his job being under threat with the team in a slump.

He said, "You ask me about my future on matchday 14, when we have not been in decline since I arrived (in March 2022). That smells bad to me.

"The previous technicians (from Mallorca) were not asked the same thing with the team with water up to its neck. They were not asked if their position was in danger."

The Mexican coach recalled that he took charge of Mallorca in relegation positions. With him on the bench, the club came back to sign its third consecutive season in the Primera Division.

"Right now there are many games left (to finish the championship) and the important thing is to be among the first seventeen teams at the end of the season, not now," he added.
