Real Madrid's Drenthe proud of winning derby role

Royston Drenthe was delighted to play his part in Real Madrid's derby victory at Atletico on Saturday.

It was the young Dutchman who won the injury-time penalty that was converted by Real striker Gonzalo Higuain to earn the visitors a dramatic three points.

Drenthe remarked: "The best thing is winning the penalty that helped the team. It was a great joy because in the last minute to get a penalty is always great. We were ahead the whole game and their equaliser motivated us. Fortunately I earned that penalty to win the game."

It was Atletico defender Johnny Heitinga who fouled Drenthe and he added: "I do not know him and we did not talk. He is Dutch, but he is Atletico and I am Real Madrid. Each defends their interests."
