Real Madrid wing-back Marcelo has urged fans not to give up on them.

A 3-0 loss to CSKA Moscow was a real blot on Los Blancos' Champions League copybook, but the left-back was at pains to point out that Real have a record to be proud of.

"It seems normal to win four Champions Leagues in five years, and it isn't," Marcelo said to Club del Deportista.

"There are very big teams that only have one, two, or even none.

"We forget how hard it is to win.

"We created a very strong team, and having been together for so long has been one of the keys to winning what we have.

"It doesn't make it easier to win a Champions League, but it is less difficult."

Some are already writing off Real again, a thought that Marcelo can't devote any time to.

"You can't rate a season in September, it's crazy," he added. "It's February when everything starts to take shape, and at the moment we're alive in all the competitions.

"Now we have a Club World Cup that we have to win."
