Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo must accept a pay-cut if he wants to return to Manchester United. The Telegraph says the Portuguese star is thought to be open on a switch back to English football, after a falling out with top brass at Real Madrid.
However, United will struggle to match the £380,000 weekly wage he picks up at the Bernabeu.
There is a strong interest from Old Trafford chiefs in bringing Ronaldo back to the club.
It is thought Real will entertain bids around the £60m mark for the 29-year-old.
But despite penning bumper new commercial deals with the likes of Aon, Adidas and Chevrolet, United bosses have reservations about paying the ageing World Player of the Year a similar salary to the one he receives in Spain.
That will lead to Ronaldo being forced into accepting a wage reduction if a deal can be thrashed out between the two clubs.
