Real Madrid star Marcelo is full of pride after helping Brazil win the Confederations Cup.

Marcelo played in the final match against Spain and rounded off his participation in the Confederations Cup by raising the champions' trophy.

"We have a lot of respect for the Spanish squad and we succeeded in defeating them. They have an incredible team and to beat them 3-0 like this is to make history. What is more, it was a great thrill to play here with the support of these wonderful fans.

"We have demonstrated that Brazil is returning to its rightful place, which is at the very top. Other teams will look at us a lot differently now. We are not a conceited group of players, though, and we will try to improve our performance in home games."
