Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is stunned by Manchester United plans to hand David de Gea a new contract.

De Gea remains Perez's priority target for the summer market and there had been a growing belief a deal would be done.

However, news that United plan to upgrade De Gea's deal to the tune of €350,000-a-week has shocked Real.

Such a deal would make De Gea close to Cristiano Ronaldo on Real's wage bill and rock morale inside the locker room.

There is no way Perez would consider matching such terms, though the De Gea camp still wants to hear from Real about what they plan to propose.
