Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez says Cristiano Ronaldo reminds him of himself. The former Almeria coach can sympathise with Ronaldo's frustrations over his treatment by opposition defenders and the lack of protection he receives from referees.

"CR9 is as I was. For him, just like when I was playing, people's hatred motivates him. What we see are very jealous people," said Sanchez.

"It would be sad if defenders are now going for Cristiano Ronaldo. For the sake of football we should all defend the Portuguese."
