Real Madrid legend Ronaldo Nazario has jumped to the defence of Karim Benzema.

The much maligned Real striker has just penned new terms to 2021.

Ronaldo declared: "I am very happy that Benzema has extended his contract with Real Madrid. He is an important player and will have the chance to score many more goals until 2021!

"He forms an exceptional duo with Cristiano (Ronaldo) and I'm sure we'll see a lot of goals this season thanks to those two."

Benzema enjoyed his signing ceremony with the local media on Thursday.
