Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has received the EFE Trophy for the Ibero-American Player of 2016.

The goalkeeper was recognised after a brilliant year with Real Madrid in which he won the Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup.

He said: "I want to thank God for the blessing of life, is the most important thing: to be healthy to achieve these things. Thank you very much because it is a great honour for me to represent my country and a privilege to play for Real Madrid. I have this with me every day and It's what motivates me to keep fighting.

"God has always given me the strength to achieve my dreams and at times like this I realise that it's worth fighting and striving for. Winning trophies and titles at a club like Real Madrid is priceless. Thanks to the Efe Agency and my teammates because they have always helped me."
