Real Madrid have Man City chiefs concerned over Kaka deal

Manchester City have concerns they will be trumped by Real Madrid for AC Milan star Kaka.

The News of the World says Real Madrid made their move for AC Milan's Kaka on Friday night, contacting the player's father and making it clear they are desperate to sign the Brazilian.

And it left City fearing all their efforts - and millions - will be in vain with Madrid able to offer the former World Player of the Year the platform he desires.

Madrid can match City's bid but will not come close to equalling the £500,000-a-week wages that the Eastlands club have offered.

Talks with City executive chairman Garry Cook will continue tomorrow over the record-breaking deal. Real's move will not happen until the summer after an election takes place to replace Ramon Calderon as president.

A source close to the City deal said: "There is still a long way to go. If Kaka says 'Yes, yes, yes' to everything it could happen in five minutes flat . . . but that doesn't seem likely. It's not just a case of agreeing a fee with Milan and wages with Kaka, there are sponsorship deals and the commercial rights. It is one of the most complicated transfers in history."
