Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has revealed he rejected Manchester United last summer.

Varane has explained that Zinedine Zidane persuaded him to stay.

"I preferred to discuss with the leaders and the coach to know if they had confidence in me," he told L'Equipe.

"They did, so I got my head down."

Varane helped Real win the Champions League final last night against Juventus.
