Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro has ruled out a return to Italy in the summer.

The veteran Italy captain is being linked with Manchester City and Tottenham as he comes off contract in June.

His agent, Gaetano Fedele, said: "I've never spoken with Italian clubs. Fabio will continue to play in Europe. If he is to stay at Real Madrid it will depend on the elections.

"The Premier League? Nothing can be ruled out."
