Real Madrid coach Zidane hails Ramos after victory over Mallorca

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane hailed skipper Sergio Ramos after victory over Real Mallorca.

Zidane was full of praise for Sergio Ramos after Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Real Mallorca on Wednesday night.

The defender scored Los Blancos' second goal of the game from a freekick.

"He's been looking for a freekick goal," Zidane said after the game.

"He's worked on it a lot in training.

"He's our leader, our captain and he always leads the way."

While Ramos chose to address Gerard Pique's recent comments after the game, Zidane was steering clear of controversy.

"I'm not going to get involved in these things," Zidane said. "Ramos has already spoken.

"I have my own views. We have to rest and think about the next game."

Zidane surprised many with his decision to play four forwards from the start in the absence of the suspended Casemiro.

"We're here to try things," Zidane said.

"We've got lots of players and it was an option and we played quite well.

"We were missing something because you can always improve things, but I'm happy with the win.

"Now we need to rest well because there are lots of games [to come]. But all the other teams have the same."
