Real Madrid coach Ancelotti: We don't need Atletico guard of honour

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says they're in good shape facing Atletico Madrid tomorrow.

After winning the Spanish Super Cup, Real go to Atletico in the Copa del Rey.

Ancelotti said: "The team is fine. Tomorrow is another very complicated game. Atletico is a very tough rival, as demonstrated in the Super Cup. We expect a more complicated game because they play at home and they are doing very well.

"We have had many injuries and we have endured. It allows us to have a good physical condition."

Ancelotti also highlighted the form of Brahim Diaz: "He has returned after two years in Milan, being more complete and with more options. Highlights in tight spaces. He can do defensive work in any position. He is a complete player who is helping us a lot."

Ancelotti also said of Vinicius Jr: "He has returned to his best level after his injury. He is learning to play inside and this will make him more dangerous. He combines very well with Rodrygo. I liked what he said more than the three goals."

On Atletico not giving them a guard of honour, he added: "I think that the decisions of each team must be respected. If they do it right and if they don't do it too. Each one does what he wants. We do it differently. When we have to choose, we will choose the best for ourselves."
