Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic insists he gets along with technical chief Miguel Angel Portugal.

It's been suggested coach Bernd Schuster is happier working with Portugal, but Mijatovic told AS: "No, that's wrong. We've noticed that everyone is needed on the sports project, the results of 24 youngsters who have to play 60 games.

"If I made decisions on my own against you and you against me, in the end you go against yourself.

"I talk to Bernd Schuster every day and we do so with clarity because we both have strong characters. Only then can we move forward. With Portugal as well. Our future depends on achieving our objectives."

Mijatovic continued: "I know I'm not very popular.

"Some media like to criticise me. I've had to make unpopular decisions, like not renewing Roberto Carlos' contract. But the good ones are never reported."
