Real Madrid chief Emilio Butragueno has explained Lassana Diarra's move to Anzhi.

Diarra is set to sign for Anzhi on-loan.

Butragueno said: "The club received a very attractive offer for Lass yesterday afternoon, and we assessed the offer. Lass was also pleased with the offer that he was made and everything accelerated from that point. The fact that Mourinho has managed Essien in the past was very important in the final decision.

"He fully trusts him and knows all about his competitive level and he believes that Essien will make a big impact this season; after that, everything happened really quickly."
