Real Madrid attacker Hazard makes plea to fans over injury woes

Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard has made a plea to fans to understand his fitness problems.

Injuries have ravaged Hazard's career in the Spanish capital to this point, with the forward barely being able to string together five matches since putting pen to paper with the club.

Yet, a pre-season with Antonio Pintus is said to have worked wonders for the Belgian's physical condition and he is now ready to contribute, especially with Real Madrid having failed to sign Kylian Mbappe.

"Real Madrid spent a lot of money on me, I want to pay them back," Hazard admitted in an interview with HLN.

"I signed for five years, the first two haven't been good but I have three more to prove my worth. I hope it works, I hope to get up one morning and find myself in perfect condition for training, I'm waiting for the moment when I can prove my worth."

When quizzed on the perception that he is always injured, the former Lille prodigy was quick defend himself.

"People think that I'm always injured, that's the reality, but if you review my career there isn't a player who has played as many games as I have over 10 years," Hazard added.

"I do what I have to do, I work daily with the physios and we have done a great job since the beginning of the season. At the moment it is going well, but I'm not 100 percent just yet."

Hazard urged people to be more understanding about injury issues as well, opening up on the pain missing matches causes.

"Sometimes it is difficult to be injured, you want to play and you're trying to convince the club you're ready, but you still have that pain," Hazard continued.

"Those are the worst moments, sometimes it's difficult to understand. You do everything you need to do and not even that helps."
