Real Betis lodge formal refereeing complaint after Real Madrid defeat

Real Betis have lodged a formal complaint over the refereeing after defeat at Real Madrid.

Radio Cope reports Betis president Angel Haro has approached the relevant footballing and officiating bodies to make a formal complaint against referee Mateu Lahoz for the numerous errors made against his team throughout the current campaign.

Betis have counted up nine serious mistakes across their 26 LaLiga matches to date, which they believe has affected their points tally in quite a serious manner - to the point where the league table should make much better reading for Los Verdiblancos.

It is not the first time that the club have asked for answers from Spain's refereeing body (CTA) and its president Victoriano Sanchez Arminio, or to RFEF chief Angel Maria Villar, which has been confirmed by Betis vice president Miguel Lopez Catalan on their official television channel.

"There are a lot of mistakes. Some have been in our favour, such as the goal that was given against Barcelona that we didn't concede, but in general we feel hard done by. Therefore, we are asking to be heard and asking that there are not more things given against Betis, nor in favour," he said.
