Real Betis fullback Miranda: Moreno sale helped me; I could take Joaquin's number

Juan Miranda feels he's in career best form after last season's campaign with Real Betis.

Miranda is currently away with Spain at the U21 Euros.

He said, "Every player needs confidence, it is not the same to play one game and another not to play 10 in a row. It gives you that confidence, you try more things... I am also young, I will make a thousand mistakes, I have many years to learn, but we are in good dynamics, hopefully I'll continue like this and in the future I will be even better."

Miranda admits he's benefited from departure of Álex Moreno for Aston Villa.

He continued: "Well, it's like I said, Álex was having a lot of minutes, a player when he's behind and plays less, when he comes out he tries to show and that's very complicated. You put pressure on yourself that psychologically melts you down, everything is more complicated.

"But when (Manuel) Pellegrini has given me seven or eight games in a row, that confidence goes a long way. I'm happy, in good shape. Hopefully it starts like that next season."

On taking Joaquin's No17 shirt after his retirement, Miranda added: "Let's see, I have asked Joaquín for permission, to see if he will let us. If he lets me, I will be proud, hopefully I can represent 2% of what Joaquín has represented for Betis around the world, in Europe and in Spain. It would be a pride. We talked about it in his day, I would be very grateful if I took it, he is a great friend of mine and we will see."
