Reading skipper Murty: Don't blame Coppell

Reading captain Graham Murty insists manager Steve Coppell will turn results around.

Murty insists the team should have coped better with the changes Coppell made against Blackburn and the full-back told the Reading Chronicle: "With the players we have and the ability they possess we should be able to take on board what the manager says and handle it.

"The most disappointing thing is we want to play good football and improve as a team. We changed things for one game and didn't do as well as we would have liked.

"It's upset us because we all believe we're good enough to play at this level but to blame the manager's tactics is wrong."

He added: "The manager demanded a response in the second half and I think we gave him one.

"We went back to doing what we're good at. We were strong in defence and we played football in Blackburn's half.

"We scored two goals and created a lot of chances against a very good team."
