Reading signing Danny Guthrie is happy with his preseason.

Guthrie joined Reading last month from Newcastle United.

Brian McDermott's side left the Algarve on the back of a solid 1-1 draw against a tough-tackling SC Olhanense outfit, in which Guthrie scored.

"It was great to get 90 minutes as it's been a while and the goal topped it off," the midfielder told getreading.

"It was a good run out and we want to start putting things together now.

"We have a few games under our belt now and in our last match in Portugal we had a good shape about us and were trying to do the right things."
