Reading midfielder James Harper is believed to still be in talks with Wolves despite a potential transfer collapsing last week.

Royals boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has been monitoring Harper but was unsure if a deal would emanate.

"James spoke to Wolves. He's now back here. Things have gone a little quiet but we will have to wait and see," said Rodgers.

"A fee was agreed and we gave him permission to speak to them. Obviously, Mick McCarthy was at our game the other night and I think it's getting towards that period in the transfer window when there is much more speculation.

"At the moment he is a Reading player. He's working well and his movement was good the other night, so it certainly wasn't fitness which stopped the move."
