Reading are moving for Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos.

Royals manager Steve Coppell is preparing a £1million bid for the Greek attacker after sending coach Wally Downes to watch him in his country's 5-0 win over Malta on Saturday.

Stelios, 33, has made only three Premier League appearances this season after falling out of favour with axed boss Sammy Lee.

Coppell said: "Wally was not in Greece for a short break. We were looking at somebody."
