Reading coach Downes: Ingimarsson will bounce back

Reading coach Wally Downes has heaped praise on Iceland international defender Ivar Ingimarsson.

Ingimarsson played in 93 consecutive league matches for Reading before sitting on the bench at Blackburn.

Downes told readingfc.co.uk, "For me, since I have been here Ivar has been the most consistent player we've had.

"I've watched his career closely since the day he set foot in England and I've worked with him at all of the clubs he's played in England for, with the exception of Wolves.

"I've watched him progress as a player and a person over the past seven or eight years.

"Every challenge that has been put in front of Ivar, he has achieved it and then gone beyond it.

"So I'm sure the fact that he's not been playing as well as he can recently will be another challenge he will want to conquer.

"And I've got no doubts that he'll come back again, none whatsoever."
