Raul de Tomas is delighted with his move to Espanyol.

The former Benfica striker signed for Espanyol yesterday in a club record €20m deal.

De Tomas declared: "I am very happy, it is where I wanted to be.

"It motivates me to be the most expensive player in the history of a club as important as Espanyol, and it fills me with responsibility. I'm going to do everything to return the trust they have placed in me.

"I know the responsibility I will have in this team, I have no problem accepting it.

"For me it is important to have a long contract. My idea is to make history here, to do great things with this club."

De Tomas, who left Real Madrid for Benfica last summer, has signed a deal with Espanyol to 2026.
