Raul could be convinced to stay at Real Madrid, it has been revealed. El Mundo Deportivo says Real president Florentino Perez wants to bring Fernando Hierro back to the club - and this could lead to Raul also staying.
Florentino has been convinced about offering a role to Hierro by general manager Jorge Valdano, who has been impressed by the former Real captain's work as Spain's technical director.
Should Hierro agree, it's suggested he will have a big influence on convincing Raul to remain with Real next season.
Aitor Karanka's appointment as Jose Mourinho's No2 at Real is said to have come from the recommendation of Hierro.
