Nice owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is putting in groundwork for a takeover move of Manchester United.

Le Parisien says Ratcliffe has sounded out the idea of appointing PSG chief Luis Campos as the sporting director of United if his bid is successful.

The 69-year-old has already admitted that he would be keen on buying the Old Trafford-based side should the Glazers be willing to sell the club.

United already have John Murtough as the club's first-ever director of football, and his deputy Andy O'Boyle and former midfielder Darren Fletcher acting as the technical director.

Campos, however, is very highly-rated in the football world having worked as a scout and analyst at LaLiga giants Real Madrid before moving to AS Monaco to be the sporting director.

Ratcliffe, who grew up as a Manchester United fan, announced his intention to buy the Red Devils as fans of the club started protests against the current owners, the Glazer family, who are believed to be willing to sell a small stake in the club.
