Raphael Varane is expected to start for Real Madrid at Champions League opponents Juventus.
Varane has been recovering from a preseason knee injury.
"We can improve defensively and for me it's something that we have to improve together. It isn't just an issue for the defenders, but for the whole team," he said.
Asked about the influence of coach Zinedine Zidane, Varane added: "He speaks to us individually. He gives advice and offers his experience. He contributes a lot of calm to the group as well as all his experience".
