Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia has hit out at the media over their treatment of the team's younger players.

Ranocchia is upset with the way Achraf Hakimi is being targeted by sections of the local press.

He said, "This is a year of growth and among the many difficulties we are still in the running for qualification in the Champions League, you can say what you want but we are still in the running.

"At Inter, when things go wrong you only see the negative, I don't know why it happens, at Inter it has always been like that. Perhaps because in previous years everyone was used to winning trophies, but now 10 years of non-victories have also passed.

"The way of thinking must also be changed a bit, the media attack young players a lot. Hakimi, for example, is a young boy and he has to settle down, he has quality and we read about the Hakimi case every day.

"We are at the beginning of the year and we are still in the running for all our goals."
