Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick is adding a new member to his backroom team.
Rangnick has decided to give a role to his former mentor Helmut Gross after persuading him to come out of retirement to help out at Old Trafford, says the Mirror.
Gross helped Rangnick develop his football philosophy during their spell together in the youth set-up at Stuttgart three decades ago. He was also influential in German football's overhaul at the beginning of the century.
The duo worked together at Hoffenheim and linked-up for a third time when Gross was appointed as the advisor of management at RB Leipzig in 2012.
Rangnick was working as Leipzig's sporting director when Gross joined the club but went on to manage the team on two separate occasions before being appointed as the club's global sports director.
Gross has said in the past: "Ralf knows that with me he has someone by his side who, thanks to his professional independence, is not tied to the rules of the football business and can think outside the box."
