Rangers take their place in cup final

At a snow covered Hampden Park, Rangers booked their place in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final with a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone. All the goals came in the first half.

Steven Davis put the Gers in front with a close-range shot on 26 minutes after his initial effort was blocked.

Then on 37 minutes midfielder Lee McCulloch doubled Rangers' advantage through a low drive from 18 yards.

Saints keeper Graeme Smith saved Steven Naismith's penalty as Rangers carved out late opportunities on the break.

The Perth side showed plenty of attacking intent, but it was Rangers who looked the more dangerous on the counter attack.

Walter Smith's side will now meet St Mirren in the final.
